Bangalore based automobile firm, GoGreen BOV has launched four new electric scooters for our market. The new ranges of electric bikes consist of Kohra, Kimaya, Kavach and Sunnoti. This isn’t the first time that a company has planned to make an entry in the electric two-wheeler segment as few years back Yo-Bykes had made their debut. One of the main reason for Yo-Bykes failure was its low range and to counter this, GoGreen BOV claims that its array of new electric scooters have a range between 60 to 120km. Another added advantage of electric scooter is that one doesn’t need to register the bike or posses a valid driving license to ride them and students below the age of 18 can ride them legally.

The Kohra electric scooter according to GoGreen BOV has been specifically designed keeping in mind the needs of school going children. The Kimaya has been priced at Rs 38,000 and has a claimed range of 60km. The Kimaya is targeted at the fairer sex and also consumers who are looking at a two-wheeler for short distance commute and has a range of 60km. The Kimaya electric scooter has weight carrying capacity of 160kg and has been priced at Rs 47,000. The Kavach is an electric scooter that has been designed for long distance commuting and has a range of 120km. The Kavach also is the only electric scooter in the country to boast a range of 120km and will retail for Rs 53,000.

The final scooter in the line-up is the Sunnoti, which has been developed for the delivery segment. The Sunnoti according to GoGreen BOV is a multipurpose electric vehicle that can be converted to carry loads or a family of two. The Sunnoti electric scooter will be offered in two variants, the one with 60km range at Rs 44,000 and the 100km range variant has been priced at Rs 59,500.  Note: All prices mentioned above are on-road Bangalore.

Commenting on the launch, Dhivik Reddy, CEO, GoGreen BOV, said, ‘When we started 4 years back, there used to be virtually no market for electric bikes in India. A lot of players in the industry could not sustain themselves mainly because their product was not made for Indian conditions and mindset. We were able to gain a foothold in the market by designing India’s first e-bike with a range of 120 Kms per charge. Since inception we have sold over about 14000 vehicles.”

According to GoGreen BOV, they sell around 1,200units a month and with the launch of the above mentioned scooters, they expect this number to swell to around 2,600 units per month. The four new scooters launched will be available in shades of orange, red, green, purple and grey. Currently GoGreen BOV has presence in four states across the country and it plans to expand to other states and city in the near future. Also the company added that it sources the battery for its vehicles from South Korea and both the firms have planned to setup a manufacturing plant on the outskirts of Bangalore. For this purpose they are planning to invest Rs 59 crore, which GoGreen BOV claims is the highest investment for any electric vehicle in India.
