Ford has recorded a 14.7 per cent slump in its total sales for the month of July 2015. The company has sold 13,116 units last month as opposed to 15,282 units in the same period last year .

The company’s domestic sales stood at 4,362 units last month, a decrease by 42.54 per cent as compared to 7,592 units a year ago, the company said in a statement.

The company exported a good 8,754 units in July 2015 as opposed to 7,690 units in the same period last year, thus registering a growth of 13.83 per cent.

Commenting on the sales, Anurag Mehrotra, Executive Director Marketing, Sales and Service, Ford India, "We are excited to usher in the next phase of growth for Ford in India as we gear up to introduce three new products in next nine months, beginning with the much appreciated compact sedan Figo Aspire."

Ford desperately needs to update the Ford EcoSport to ward off new breed of competition such as the Hyundai Creta and the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross. The launch of the new Ford EcoSport is just around the corner as it was showcased internationally recently.

The updated model will come without a rear mounted wheel and will sport black roof and mirror caps. The compact SUV will ride on 17-inch alloy wheels. Those who prefer having the vehicle with a rear mounted spare wheel will have option at that as well.

In India, the 2016 EcoSport will continue to be powered by the existing range of engines - a 1.0-litre EcoBoost churning out 125PS of power and 170Nm of torque , a 1.5-litre TiVCT petrol unit producing 112PS of power and 140Nm of torque, and a 1.5-litre TDCi diesel engine delivering 91PS of power 204Nm of torque.
