Ford Figo hatchback spotted

Subsequent to the official unveil of the Figo Aspire sedan, Ford is getting ready to launch it in June. But alongside that, the American car-maker has silently been working on the Figo hatchback. Uncamouflaged pictures of the car have recently been spotted hinting at a late 2015 launch. 

Under the hood, the Ford Figo hatchback will come with the same engine as its larger sibling. A naturally aspirated 1.2-litre petrol mill and a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine. The gasoline unit will make 70PS of peak power and 102Nm of peak torque. The 1.5-litre diesel engine on the other hand will be the big seller and will make 90PS of peak power and 204Nm of peak torque. Both these engines will come mated to a 5-speed gearbox.

Upfront, the Figo hatchback looks pretty similar to its sedan sibling thanks to the trapezoidal swept back headlights and that large chrome four-slat grille. The bumper too remains the same with a petit air dam and fog lamps on its either side. Needless to say, the hatchback version looks smaller than the sub-4 metre sedan, and at the same time it looks a lot more proportionate as well. At the back, the Figo has a neatly laid out hatch and tall-ish taillights on either side. 

With the launch of the Figo Aspire around the corner, Ford has now slotted in high gear and kicked off its pre-launch campaign with Farhan Akhtar. And soon after the launch, the Sanand-based car maker will get ready to bring in the Figo hatchback as well. We expect them to launch it between Rs 3.75-6lakh in the third quarter of the year.
