Delhi Auto Expo 2012: Nissan showcase plans
Nissan's affordable sports car, the GTR, and the all-electric Leaf hatchback will be the mainstay of the Japanese carmaker's model line-up at the Expo

The Japanese car maker Nissan is likely to spice up the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo with their phenomenal sports car, the Nissan GTR. The GTR pushes the boundaries of precision engineering to the limits. As a result, the relatively affordable sports car can outperform some fairly expensive supercars not only in the real world but also on the track. Expect the improved 2012 Nissan GTR to be showcased at the Expo. Among notable changes to the engine are increased intake efficency, additional intake manifolds at the head of each unit, enlarged intake duct for the intercooler, improved exhaust emissions, air mixture ratio and ignition timing along with reduced exhaust gas emissions. The gearbox has been strengthened with a stronger shift fork and fixing bearing for the flywheel bearing. The body has been reinforced in parts, such as behind the engine and dash panel, for greater structural rigidity reflected in better handling.
Considering Nissan’s all-electric vehicle, Leaf, has been seen around in Delhi NCR in recent times, it is most likely going to be displayed in the Nissan stand during the Expo. Laminated lithium-ion battery packs not only give the car a range of 160 kilometres at full charge but also keep the weight down and liberate a whole lot of space. The electric motor generates 111PS and 280 Nm of torque with complete silence. A smart integrated IT system also allows users to see a real-time map view of the radius within the car's present range. The best part about the Leaf is that it is a large and spacious five-door hatchback that can serve the purpose of a premium family hatchback minus the emissions.
It is also likely that Nissan will showcase its NV200 people carrier that is being developed jointly with Ashok Leyland. The NV200 is a large van like car that will seat eight people in three rows like a Toyota Innova. The van will get the 1.5 litre diesel engine from the Renault Fluence.

Nissan will also likely showcase its existing range of cars sold in India, including the Micra hatchback, Sunny sedan, Teana entry-level luxury sedan and the X-Trail soft-roader. The launch of the Sunny diesel recently should give Nissan the competitive edge it was missing in the C-Segment sedan. Sharing the same ‘V’ platform and the 1.5-litre engine as the Micra's, Nissan has opened bookings for the Sunny diesel at Rs. 7.98 lakhs for the XL variant and Rs. 8.78 lakhs for the XV.
