Apart from the launch of its much talked-about global SUV Tucson in India, Hyundai has unleashed a fresh salvo of sub-brands in the country. On Wednesday, the Korean automaker showcased its Genesis sub-brand and the N 2025 Vision Gran Turismo concept. While the Genesis has been doing the rounds in the media globally, the less heard-of N 2025 is a high performance sports car concept.
As we had reported back in November, the Genesis brand should not be confused with previous global sedans or coupes of its namesake. Alongside six new cars, the Genesis sub-brand is working on a compact sport sedan to spark a direct face-off with core luxury players from Germany in the form of the BMW 3 Series, the Audi A4 and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class.
Every member of the Genesis line-up will ride on a purpose-built platform and use brand-specific engines.
HMIL has also showcase its high performance N 2025 Vision Gran Turismo concept, which is a result of intensive testing and product development, at the biennial event.
“The result of intensive testing and product development, the sub-brand N builds on Hyundai Motor’s successful motorsport experiences and technology capability to drive future performance-oriented and race-track-capable models forward and bring ‘the most thrilling winding road’ fun to customers who truly love cars,” Hyundai said in a statement.
In India, Maruti Suzuki’s luxury sub-brand NEXA has fared pretty well, riding on the success of the Baleno and the S-Cross; and has paved way for other brands to try a hand at the same in the country. It will thus be interesting to see how soon Hyundai decides to roll out its sub-brands in India. Till then, we expect to see more of them at auto shows across the globe.
