2015 Frankfurt Motor Show Preview

The Frankfurt Auto Show is one of the most awaited events in the calendar here and this year, as always, there are a host of manufacturers that will bring some of its newest and freshest cars to the motorshow. The list includes Mercedes-Benz, Audi, BMW, Jaguar, Volkswagen along with the more exotic machinery from the likes of Ferrari, Maserati, Bentley and Lamborghini.

Here are some of the cars we here at ZigWheels are really looking forward to, most of which will eventually have an Indian connection.

Alfa Romeo Giulia – Although not really relevant to India yet, the new Alfa Romeo Guilia has single handedly added a much deserved shot of adrenaline into the Italian Marque. It comes with a Ferrari V6 that makes 500PS, will be available in red and will have a Quadrifoglio badge. We cant really complain.

Audi A4 – The new Audi A4 will be essential if Audi intends to regain its number 1 spot in India. This new car, an all-new model, has many exterior and interior updates from its previous generation making it one of the more attractive Audis in recent years.

Bentley Bentayga – After months of spy shots and speculations, the Bentley Bentayga will finally be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor show. With a price of over Rs 1.5 Crore, the Bentley SUV will aim straight for the Range Rover customer.

BMW 7 Series – BMW showcased the new 7 Series a few weeks ago but this will be its first official public unveil. With enough tech to make iPhone users proud, the new 7 Series will take on the Mercedes-Benz S-Class head on.

BMW X1 – A very relevant car for India, BMW needs to get this to India as quickly as possible if they intend to recapture some of its dominance in India. The new X1 will be available with a diesel motor in the next few months in India too.

Ferrari 488GTB Spider – The new Ferrari 488GTB convertible will most likely be badged the 488GTS and will make its debut in the 2015 Frankfurt Motorshow. With no roof, the 488 will be even more dramatic than it already is and that in our books is a great thing.

Jaguar F-Pace – Jaguar’s first SUV was recently used as a pace car for a few athletic events but F-Pace will officially make its debut in the Frankfurt Motor Show 2015. The F-Pace might not be named really well but we are sure it will impress us with its driving abilities.

Lamborghini Huracán Spider – A convertible Lamborghini that makes 610PS of peak power is something we are definitely looking forward to. Will Lambo stick to a removable Targa Top or go with a more complicated folding soft top? Only time will tell.

Maserati Levante – The Maserati Levante will be the Italian supercar manufacturer’s first ever SUV and will be available with a V6 and a V8 engines along with a diesel motor. The Levante will also eventually make its way to India.

Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupé/Convertible – With spy pictures of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class coupe and convertible doing the rounds of the internet for the last few months with a very little level of detailing or masking, the car/cars will make their debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Auto Show.

Porsche 911 facelift – The new 991 Porsche 911 has been with us for a few years now and is due for a facelift. That said, expect very few tweaks on the exterior along with a major upgrade to the powerplants. If rumors are to be believed, all Porsche 911s will now have some sort of force induction.

Volkswagen Tiguan concept – The Tiguan will make its way to India soon and the car that will be showcased at the Frankfurt Auto show will essentially be a very thinly disguised concept. Expect a production version to be ready in the next six months with an India launch sometime around early 2017 or late 2016.
