Hyundai India continues to post strong numbers on the domestic front. In the month of February 2015, the Korean carmaker posted a 9.7 increase in sales. Clocking 37,305 units in the shortest month of the year, Hyundai sold 3,300 units more than the corresponding period last year.
Quite a few new products from the Hyundai stable are doing well for the car maker. The Elite i20 is going strong in the premium hatchback segment which recently won the ET Zigwheels car of the year 2014. Hyundai sold 10,264 units of the Elite i20 last month. The Grand i10 hatchback is selling well as is its compact sedan derivative, the Xcent. Within a fortnight, Hyundai will add a new product to its fold, the i20 Active. The Active is a cross hatchback that will take on the likes of the Fiat Avventura, Toyota Etios Cross and the Volkswagen Cross Polo.
While domestic sales grew, exports have dipped this past month by 17.5 percent. 10,307 Hyundai units were shipped out compared to 12,500 units in the same period last year. This brings Hyundai’s cumulative total to 47,612 units for the month of February, a growth of 2.4 percent from February 2014.
