Autoart, one of the most well-known and best model makers in the world have always made some pretty fine models. One of their most significant models in the last few years though has been the Koenigsegg CCX. The significance of the model though is not due to the level of detail Autoart has managed to cram into it or the stunning representation of the CCX’s shape though; it is all down to the delicate and accurate doors that this model has.
Commonly known the world over as Koenigsegg doors, the door mechanism on this 1:18 CCX by itself is worth every penny of the high asking price for this car. As with the real car, the doors first swing outward and then rotate 90 degrees perpendicular to the car to let the passengers out. Autoart, took over a year to perfect the mechanism that accurately represents these crazy doors, a testament to the attention to detail in these cars. The doors though are not the only thing good about the 1:18 Koenigsegg CCX.
Talking about the exterior, everything from the detailed headlamps to the deep carbonfibre lip on the front bumper to the small vents on the engine cover are well detailed and well represented accurately. The clamshell boot up front and engine cover at the back open as they do on the real car, supported by a set of gas filled shocks. Similarly, the removable hard top roof can be stored in the boot just like it can be in the real car. Our favorite details on the whole car though are the carbonfibre wheels. The thin silver spoke wheels combined with a highly detailed carbonfibre lip compliment the carbon side skirts and front splitter to the T.
The details in the engine bay too are worth a special mention. Although the first thing you see when you open the delicate clamshell engine cover is the large catalytic convertor finished in high quality chrome, the most impressive detail in the engine bay are the twin gas filled shock absorbers with their springs finished in a bright yellow. There is more usage of accurate 1:18 scale carbonfibre here as well adorning both the air intake and the firewall. The engine itself is well crafted and a plethora of hoses, reservoirs and wires keep the engine bay as accurate as possible.
The simple interior too is well replicated on Autoart’s 1:18 scale rendition of the Koenigsegg CCX. The simple steering wheel and manual gearbox duo is well complimented by the crazy round button console on the dashboard. The dashboard itself is represented accurately in carbonfibre complimenting the sporty seats.
The Autoart Koenigsegg CCX is one of those models every serious car collector should have in their collection without fail. Although the orange one seen above is rare to come across, one can still buy either a silver or black version of the car for about Rs 10 thousand from specialty model car stores or websites.
