Ferrari begins construction of theme park in Spain

If cars are your passion, and you dream about them all the while then here’s a piece of news for you all. The construction of Ferrari’s second theme park – the Ferrari Land has begun in Barcelona, Spain and the theme park is set to open its doors to the public in 2016.

Ferrari Land will sprawl a good 75,000 square metres and include a variety of new and exciting attractions for Prancing Horse enthusiasts of all ages. The park will house a 112 metres tall vertical accelerator to give passengers a Formula One experience enabling them to accelerate from 0-180kmph in five seconds.

Ferrari Land will also contain the first Ferrari-themed hotel, which is said to be a five-star facility with 250 rooms, restaurants and a driving simulator. This isn’t the first Ferrari theme park, however, with the first one being located in Abu Dhabi by the name – Ferrari Abu Dhabi.

Ferrari isn’t directly involved with the new theme park, but simply provides a license for the use of its name and logo. The project is backed by PortAventura Entertainment, a subsidiary of Italian private equity group Investindustrial.

The cost of building this theme park is estimated to be around Rs 720 crore.
