Virat Kohli takes delivery of the limited-edition Audi R8 LMX

Virat Kohli seems to love all things good, and this is proven with the young cricketer’s taste for cars. The talented right hand batsman is an Audi lover and already owns two Audi cars – an Audi R8 and the Audi Q7 in his stable. However, a new member to join the list of his cars is the Audi R8 LMX sportscar.  Joe King, Head, Audi India handed over the keys of this brand new limited-edition sportscar to the Indian Test Cricket Team Captain.

Commenting on the occasion, King, said, “We are thrilled to welcome Virat into the Audi Family. Audi has always been a brand for ‘Young Achievers’ who have made it big and want to celebrate their achievement and their individuality. Audi R8 LMX is a perfect choice for Virat, as both exemplify brilliant innovation in their performances. In fact, Virat now becomes one of the only 99 proud owners globally to boast of this most powerful and fastest Audi ever.”

The Audi R8 LMX is the first car in the world with laser technology in its headlights. The combination of LED and laser lights was first used on the Audi R18 e-tron quattro at the 24 Hours of Le Mans last year. The laser lights in high beam have a light throw of up to 500 metres and are activated at speeds over 60kmph. The lasers emit blue light which via a converter changes to roadworthy white light. Furthermore, the headlamps are fitted with a camera based sensor system that detects road users and actively adjusts the light pattern to avoid dazzle.

"I am delighted with my new limited-edition super sports car Audi R8 LMX. I am especially proud and excited to be one of only 99 owners of this special car. I have always loved automobiles and have been an admirer of Audi," said Virat Kohli.

The R8 LMX is powered by the same 5.2-litre V10 engine which delivers 570PS of power and 540Nm of torque. The engine is mated to 7-speed S-Tronic gearbox which sends power to all four wheels enabling the car to sprint from0-100kmph in 3.4 seconds with a top-speed of 320kmph.
