Upcoming Ola Electric Bikes Design Patents Revealed

The design patents of three upcoming electric bikes from Ola Electric have surfaced online. These patent images have given us a detailed look at what the production version of the electric bikes could look like.

Ola Electric Bike 1

The first bike seen in the design patents doesn’t look similar to the concept bikes showcased by the EV maker at the Ola Annual Customer Day held last year. It will likely be the most affordable bike and the first one to be launched by Ola Electric. It gets a hub-mounted motor, telescopic fork, twin shock absorbers and the alloy wheel design is something that's quite commonly seen on most 100-110cc commuter bikes. The performance is expected to be similar to that of a 125cc bike and it’ll rival the Revolt RV400. It gets an easy-to-reach single-piece handlebar and the riding stance is expected to be upright. Other details spotted are the all-LED lighting, front disc and rear drum brake setup and the instrument console is expected to be a TFT unit with navigation. It gets skinny tyres usually seen on commuter bikes, which should again help improve range. The bike might get a range of about 200km, considering the Ola S1 Pro gets a claimed range of 195km.

Ola Electric Bike 2

The second bike in the design patents looks more similar to the Ola Roadster concept shown last year. It gets more premium looking alloy wheels and fatter tyres compared to the first bike. Performance will likely be similar to that of a 160cc bike and it will rival the Tork Kratos R. Details similar to the roadster concept bike showcased earlier include the slim headlight design and the overall sharp design language. The frame seems like a double cradle unit and the motor is mounted on the frame along with a chain or a belt drive.

The third bike looks like a sportier version of the second bike. Differences with the second bike are an extra cowl at the bottom, slightly different looking panels and clip-on handlebars (the second bike gets a single-piece handlebar). Both bikes get a 4-way directional switchgear.

All three bikes are expected to be unveiled by the end of 2024 and launched in mid-2025. The affordable, commuter electric bike will likely be priced around the Rs 1.4 lakh mark with the second and the third bikes likely to get price tags of around Rs 1.7 lakh and Rs 1.8 lakh (all ex-showroom).
