Mahindra Two Wheelers will launch the Gusto on September 29th. The Mahindra Gusto is the first 110cc scooter from the automotive giant in the Indian two-wheeler space. The Mahindra Gusto is an all-new scooter and is powered by a 110cc motor. Mahindra calls the new powerplant M-TEC and it uses an all-aluminium construction. The single-cylinder, air-cooled motor in the Mahindra Gusto churns out 8PS of peak power and 8.5Nm of maximum torque. Power is transmitted to the rear-wheel via a CVT transmission.
According to Mahindra the Gusto is a global scooter and will be launched in Nepal also on September 29th. It will be sold in South Asia, Central America and Africa in the near future. Mahindra Two Wheelers claims that the Gusto has been developed by them from the scratch at its R&D facility in Pune. It has taken Mahindra & Mahindra two and half years to develop the Gusto scooter and it claims that the scooter has been tested across different parts of the country given the varying demographics of our country. The Mahindra Gusto will be launched only in the Northern and Western markets of our country on September 29th while it will be launched in other parts of the country before end of 2014.
The Mahindra Gusto will be pitched against the likes of the Honda Activa, TVS Jupiter, Hero Maestro, Yamaha Alpha and Suzuki Let’s in the Indian two-wheeler space. ZigWheels has ridden the scooter but embargo restrictions don’t permit us to share furthermore details about the new scooter.
