Hyundai Grand i10 launched

The Hyundai Grand i10 is a larger and more premium offering in the B-Segment market. In fact, it is 100mm longer than the European Spec Hyundai Grand i10. Wearing the company’s fluidic family design language the Grand i10 is quite the looker with its stretched back headlamps, strong shoulder line, large glass house and wrap around tail lamps.

Hyundai has also put together the interiors of the new Grand i10 with good quality materials that give the cabin an upmarket air. Hyundai Grand i10 packs in a host of features such as rear aircon vents (a segment first), smart key with Push button start and stop, integrated 2-DIN MP3 audio with built-in 1 GB memory, Bluetooth connectivity, Aux-in and USB connectivity, steering mounted audio controls, A/C vent for rear passengers (an industry first in the segment), rear parking sensors, glove box cooling, electric ORVMs, etc. This is pretty much the same list you are likely find on an entry level premium sedan!

Engine options include the proven 1.2 litre KAPPA petrol motor and a brand new 1.1 litre U2 CRDI diesel motor which will indeed bring home the heavier numbers on the Grand i10’s sales charts. The 1.2 litre KAPPA petrol makes 83PS of power at 6,000 rpm and 99Nm torque at 4,500 rpm while fuel mileage is at 18.9 kmpl(ARAI figure).

The petrol engine offers the choice of 5-speed manual transmission and a 4-speed automatic transmission. The 2nd generation U2 CRDI diesel delivers 71PS of power at 4,000 rpm and 160Nm of torque from 1,500-2,750 rpm with a  fuel mileage of 24.0kmpl(ARAI figure). The diesel engine is only mated to a 5-speed manual transmission as standard.

While, both the petrol and diesel models of the new Hyundai i10 Grand have only been launched with a manual gearbox at present, an automatic version is on the cards as well.
