Precision Camshafts Limited (PCL), has announced its strategic alliance with EMAG of Germany to introduce assembled camshafts technology in the country. The Indian automotive component maker is also looking at acquiring a company in Europe as part of its growth strategy plan.
Speaking on this occasion, Yatin Shah, Chairman and Managing Director, PCL, said, “PCL has been the industry leader in delivering quality and world-class camshafts to its customers consistently. Through the acquisition of this technology, PCL will be a complete solution provider for camshafts manufactured by different technologies.”
Assembled camshafts have increased strength and are lighter in comparison to conventional camshafts. This in turn helps in improving fuel-efficiency and reducing emission. These camshafts are therefore predominantly used by original equipment makers (OEMs) in Europe, China and some developed countries as well.
PCL manufactures around 150 varieties of camshafts for the small and mid-sized passenger vehicle engines between 1.0-litre and 2.0-litre segment world over. The Indian component maker also supplies camshafts to brands such as General Motors, Ford, Porsche, Fiat, Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki and Toyota.
Following this tie-up, PCL will become a one-stop solution provider for chilled cast iron, ductile iron induction hardened and assembled camshafts for mid-size passenger cars.
