Toyota has released the very first images of the interiors of its compact crossover, the C-HR, and its looks good. The car had impressed us with its striking and angular exterior when it was revealed at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. The interiors seem to complement the outer looks. The car will be available for sale in European countries by the end of this year. However, deliveries are expected to begin in early 2017. There's no clarity about whether Toyota will bring it to India, but the carmaker did indicate that it could consider bringing its latest products to India.

The C-HR’s interiors will just blow your mind with their sporty layout. We feel that it takes the imagination of Toyota’s design team to a whole new level, making it a unique car, since nothing like it exists in the Toyota line-up so far. According to the Toyota design team, the C-HR (Coupe High-Rider) interiors are focused on the driver and encapsulates “high tech functionality with a sensual and a fashionable style".

Toyota C-HR dashboard

The dashboard and the panels in the interior feature a series of layers of different textures and materials merging into each other, the most remarkable one being a blue streak that runs through the middle of the dashboard, dividing it, and then merging with the side door panels. The interiors also incorporate piano black trims at places, a superior quality of materials, and better seats. Toyota will also offer a choice of three colour options on the inside, namely, dark grey, black/blue and black/brown. Moreover, to ensure that the driver gets optimum visibility, the dash is lowered from the top, thanks to a floating touchscreen that doesn't need additional mounting space.

Owing to the driver-centric layout of the inside, the dash is angled towards the driver for easier access to the controls. However, Toyota explains that it has made sure that the front passenger also gets relevant controls at his/her disposal. The touchscreen system will be hooked to a 9-speaker JBL sound system and will optimise user experience by incorporating Toyota’s ‘Touch 2’ infotainment system.

Speaking of the power options, the C-HR will get a 1.2-litre turbocharged motor with around 117PS of power, while a hybrid powertrain will also be available. The hybrid powertrain will be the same motor that powers the current generation of the Prius, which is available in India. It is expected to impress with its low carbon emissions of 85 grams per kilometre and a higher mileage figure and power figures than the turbocharged motor.

Going by the looks and features of the C-HR, it could take Toyota to a next level. Toyota is also hoping to sell as much as one lakh units of the car in European nations in a year's time after it is launched.
