It has been a long and accelerated journey for Tata Motors but the manufacturer has stood straight up despite fierce competition to once again clock a rise in sale of its passenger cars.

In all, Tata Motors sold 1,19,799 vehicles in January 2012 with passenger cars accounting for 66,785, indicating a rise of 26 percent. Sales of Tata Motors' passenger cars have been on an upswing with the company selling 28,916 units in December 2011, up 47 percent compared to just 19,699 units sold in December 2010.

Over the past few months, its Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) brand, too, has been racking up impressive sales figures, thanks to the launch of new models like Range Rover Evoque and Jaguar XF. JLR sales stood at 29,293 in January 2012, marking a rise of 44 percent. Jaguar sold 4,547 units, up 49 percent while Land Rover sold 24,746 units, an increase of 43 percent.

Tata Motors recently announced an increase in prices of its vehicles, barring the Nano and Aria, by up to Rs 12,000. Prices have been hiked due to rising input costs the company said.
