The new look of Skoda's International range has been refined and is almost ready to hit its production line up. Say hello to the MissionL concept!

This is the bold new face of Skoda’s future. This is the MissionL concept soon to be shown at the Frankfurt Motor Show – and it is one concept that is closer to production than any concept can be. Building up on the VisionD concept that the Czech manufacturer showcased at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year, the MissionL refines the family look further and presents what upcoming Skoda models will look like. But unlike most other car companies, the future isn’t too disconnected from the past – Skoda after all is a manufacturer that revels in tradition.

The result is a front end that retains all the classic touches with a very horizontal theme but the business end of this concept is actually all the way to the rear. The Czechs have traditionally stuck to a notchback for most of their models a la the old Octavia and the new Superb and that’s what the new Skodas will retain. In terms of establishing an identity and continuing with the same, the MissionL does it in splendid style.

The rendering you see on this page could also very well form the basis for the new sedan that Skoda will be bringing out to the Indian market shortly. Based on the Fabia, this car will borrow massively from its parent-company-counterpart the Volkswagen Vento and is slated to go into production not only in India, but also China and Russia. While being a part of the VW Group could possibly have been the best thing to happen to the Czech manufacturer, one thing is for certain – Skoda isn’t holding back. Expect them to go all guns blazing with a superior line up of products soon. Watch this space!
