The American sports carmaker has decided to give a new definition to speed with its new car model - the Hennessey Venom F5. Successor to the Venom GT, the Venom F5, will churn out obscene horsepower to bag the distinction of being the world’s fastest road-legal production car.
Hennessey had registered a record-breaking 433kmph run at the Kennedy Space Centre back in January this year with its Venom GT. Though, this was faster than the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, the record wasn’t considered official enough by the Guinness Book of World Records, as it was only achieved in a one-way run, and Guinness World Records requires two-way runs with the speed being the average of the two runs.
The American sports carmaker is aiming for 466kmph with the Hennessey Venom F5 which it claims is achievable through a lower-drag shape, additional power and enhanced technology. Hennessey states the step up from the Venom GT's top-speed will come from both an increase in power and a reduction in drag from the clean-sheet carbon-fibre body.
The Texas-based automaker is reworking on the 7.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine to deliver as much 1,400PS of power. A new single-clutch paddle-shift gearbox is also under works. This new hypercar will also get a new GPS-based traction control system that will be programmable for specific racing circuits.
The Hennessey Venom F5 hypercar is expected to debut next year with price tag of Rs 7.2 crore (exclusive of taxes and duties).
