Suzuki has unveiled an all new turbocharged engine at the 2015 Shanghai Motor Show

Suzuki BoosterJet engine

After unveiling the 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol unit in Geneva last month, Suzuki has taken the wraps off a 1.4-litre turbo unit at the Shanghai Motor Show. The Japanese car maker claims that this new 1.4-litre Boosterjet engine will not only offer great performance but will also return high efficiency.

The Boosterjet engine has been constructed using lightweight materials in order to make it more efficient. Needless to say that it has been constructed in a way that it will be compatible with several cars in it product portfolio.

While details of the new engine are still sketchy and Suzuki hasn’t really revealed the power and torque figures as yet either, we can expect them to be higher than the current petrol powerplants. While the Boosterjet engines will first make their way into the Chinese market, they will eventually be offered in the international market as well.

In the Indian market, Suzuki is likely to plunk this 1.4-litre Boosterjet unit in all of its cars starting from the Swift, S-Cross to the Ciaz. The smaller cars might just get the smaller 1.0-litre Boosterjet unit though.
