So you have the 'green stuff' in plenty and look to own something other than the bunch of Teutonic's available in the market. Well Rolls-Royce seems to have heard your pleas and just previewed the Phantom Coupe in Mumbai. While our bossman had already driven this ghost of a car on French roads in August last year, Rolls-Royce has finally brought the car down on Indian shores six months later.

The Coupe, the fourth new model from Rolls-Royce under BMW Group ownership, is meant for people who love to get behind the wheel and is the most driver-oriented model in the current line-up in the context of Rolls-Royce luxury values. Powered by the Phantom's 6.75-litre V12 engine, the Coupe puts out in excess of 465 PS and an earth pulling 720 Nm of torque. With this kind of immense firepower, the Coupe manages to hit the ton in a scant 5.8 seconds even with its mammoth 2630 kg kerb weight.

As with every Rolls-Royce car, the finely hand-crafted interior of the Coupe can be personalized via the bespoke programme, allowing for any number of features, each tailored to the taste of the individual. For example, customers can choose from more than wait for it..... 44,000 different colors. If you miss gazing at a star filled sky, the Coupe also offers an optional, full-length starlight headlining, incorporating not less than 1,600 tiny fibre optics to create the ambience of a star-filled night sky.

Dr Matthew Bennett, General Manager for Rolls-Royce Motor Cars South and East Asia Pacific, said that the Phantom coupe has garnered a tremendous response worldwide. Speaking about numbers he said that it was too early to comment but considering the 14 Phantom's sold last year, the response should be positive. Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has seen a global sales increase by 20 per cent in 2008, compared to 2007, with retails of 1212 cars.

If you want one bad enough, expect to shell out in excess of 4 crore to own this 'spirit of ecstasy' and depending on the levels of customization, the figures can go even higher.
