Goodyear India has introduced a new range of tyres for mid and premium passenger vehicles, called the Assurance TripleMax.
The Assurance TripleMax - the first tyre to be equipped with Goodyear’s latest HYDROGRIP technology – is said to offer very good braking in wet conditions.
Developed with keeping in mind the road conditions, and wet weather of the Asia Pacific region, the Assurance TripleMax provides “maximum” wet grip, control and braking stability. Goodyear also claims the Assurance TripleMax stops over two metres shorter in the wet than two “leading global competitors”.
“HYDROGRIP Technology provides maximum wet grip through an innovative new tread compound, maximum control via a larger surface area contact patch meaning there is more rubber on the road, and maximum braking ability by way of biting edges with large block elements. All of this combined results in a safer and more comfortable ride,” said PK Walia, Vice President, Consumer Business, Goodyear India.
That’s not all. The Assurance TripleMax also claims to improve fuel efficiency in vehicles, by way of reducing the tyre’s rolling resistance. And this, Goodyear officials say, offers as much as 3.3 per cent fuel efficiency savings.
“Due to the fuel saving technology offered by the Assurance TripleMax tyre, OEMs are also preferring it to meet legislative issues and homologation tests in India,” said Mike Rytokoski, Vice President, Consumer Tyre Business, Goodyear APAC.
And as part of the launch of the new tyre, Goodyear organized a ride around the Buddh International Circuit, to demonstrate the qualities of the Assurance TripleMax.
Riding shotgun certainly isn’t the best possible way to judge a tyre’s ability. But one lap at the BIC behind the wheel also doesn't quite reveal the qualities of the Assurance TripleMax tyre. Sure, they feel grippy around corners, and performance under hard braking is also decent. The only noteworthy takeaway from that one lap was probably the road noise, or lack of it, in this case. That itself says a lot and makes the Assurance TripleMax a very good option for a replacement.
The Assurance TripleMax is available in sizes ranging from 175/65R14 to 215/60R16, so that covers an entire range from hatchbacks, UVs to premium sedans. As for the price, well, there’s no word on that, yet.
