Porsche India has provided its flagship SUV Cayenne to support WBB in their latest endeavour

Porsche Cayenne set for its expedition

German sports car manufacturer Porsche has partnered with ‘Women Beyond Boundaries’ (WBB) for a 20-day journey across the Himalayas. The expedition is aimed to showcase women’s empowerment through mobility. Led by Nidhi Tewari, founder of the organisation, the drive will cover a 4,000-kilometer route through the challenging Himalayan terrain. Nidhi will be driving a Cayenne, provided by Porsche India, along with her co-driver, Neha V Sadananda. They will be exploring the treacherous terrain, including river beds, thereby testing the off-road calibre of the Cayenne.

WBB is an organisation that runs extreme overland (XOL) journeys in an attempt to achieve women empowerment through their stunts. Their core mission is to exhibit mobility solution adopted by women residing in remote areas through which they pass. Following this objective, they will be training women in Ladakh on the topic of XOL driving to remote places, which will motivate their movement between remote communities. This will be accomplished with help from local administration and communities’ participation. WBB will also work with local NGOs to raise awareness among local communities over womens’ health.

Pavan Shetty, director of Porsche India stated, “We are absolutely delighted to partner with WBB on this unique initiative and see their activities as an essential contribution in the overall progress of women’s empowerment. Through this expedition, we want to support this cause and also showcase the endurance of the Cayenne in some of the most remote places in the world."

Nidhi added, “We are glad to partner with Porsche India for such an initiative. With the spirit of women empowerment, and a sensitive cause of women’s health and cancer awareness in the remotest corners of the country, we believe in going beyond all perceived and conventional boundaries. We are equally excited to get behind the wheel of the Porsche Cayenne on some of the most unique roads in the world."

The route will certainly include driving through more than a dozen high-altitude passes, a few to name being Khardung La and Marsimik La, two of the highest roads of the world. The Cayenne is powered by a 3.0-litre V6 diesel motor producing 248PS of power and a peak torque of 550Nm. Both the travellers will benefit from the uber luxurious interiors of the SUV and its off-road assist systems. The Cayenne can switch to different modes for loose, wet, and snow covered surfaces. The SUV also has the ability to modulate its ride height, thanks to the Porsche Air Suspension Management (PASM).
