The French manufacturer has revealed two concept hatches that will be showcased at this year's Geneva Motor Show for the very first time

Peugeot 208 XY Concept

Peugeot is all set to unveil 2 superminis at the Geneva Motor Show. While the XY concept is intended for the cut and thrusts of the city, the GTi concept is all set to take a legend even further. Both the concepts also show off exclusive and sophisticated colours and new ways of working with materials.

Powered by the 1.6 litre e-HDi, developing 115PS and equipped with a 6-speed manual gearbox the XY Concept aims to transport its occupants in a refined environment. Clothed in the Pulsion shade, the XY Concept appears to change constantly, depending on the distance and the position from which it is viewed. This ability to transform is the result of an exclusive method, based on the very precise application of 16 coats of paint and varnish.

The interior is as refreshing with brilliant ergonomics and an elevated instrument panel, the counters of which have a brushed aluminium background and surrounds backlit by white LEDs. While the concept rides on massive 18 inch wheels, expect a more subtle size for the production version.

As for the other concept, it is sure to stir the emotions of many an enthusiast. Directly inspired by the flag known to all motor sports enthusiasts, this design also embellishes the metal mesh of the grille, the lower bar of which proudly affirms its origins by displaying the French flag. Powering this brute is an engine that comes from the RCZ THP 200. Combined with a 6-speed manual gearbox, the 1.6 THP engine puts its driver at the controls of a machine creating previously unknown sensations, renewed thanks to extensively revised instruments and controls. The GTi then is performance personified. While the GTi is a long way from Indian shores, the production version of the XY concept could make a brilliant product for India and also herald a successful re-entry for Peugeot.
