Most powerful lambo ever is a hybrid! Huracan V10 plus 300PS worth battery power makes for a mental concept at Paris

Lamborghini Asterion Concept at Paris

Lamborghini has joined the bandwagon of hybrid hypercars with its new Asterion LPI 910-4 concept. As the names of Lamborghinis reveal its specifications, the Asterion has a longitudinal posterior (LP) mid-engined layout, I stands for ‘Ibrido’ or hybrid in Italian, 910PS is the output. Here 610PS come from the naturally aspirated 5.2-litre V10 and the remaining 300PS from the three electric motors that work in unision. 4 is for four wheel drive. Even the name Asterion is borrowed from a hybrid man-bull going with the hybrid theme of the concept.

Lamborghini’s mental Asterion concept as a result does a claimed 0-100kmph sprint in 3.0 seconds and has a top speed of 320kmph. In full electric mode, the car can reach a top speed of 125kmph. This puts the new lambo in the league of the Mclaren P1 and LaFerrari. What’s more, it has CO2 emissions of just 98 g/km and can do 50km on battery charge alone. The engine and 7-speed dual clutch gearbox are borrowed from the Huracan and the Asterion has a carbon fibre monocoque chassis as well.

The Asterion has a unique design, more rounded and a bit of classic Miura-esque inspiration compared to the hard edged Aventador. The Asterion is a two seater with lighter interior shades, unlike other Lamborghinis that have grey alcantara bathed on the inside. The interior design and layout is otherwise typical Lamborghini in terms of design. Airline cockpit style switchgear, trapezoidal air vents and chiseled steering all hark back to its sportiness.

Lamborghini hasn’t confirmed yet if the Asterion will enter production but their attention to detail and capacity to build limited run hypercars makes a good case for the Asterion seeing the light of day. It promises to be ridiculously expensive and a collectible, if Sant'Agata decides to produce it that is.
