The Mazda Miata or MX-5 as known in some countries is the worlds largest selling sports car. As of July 2014, total production volume of the Mazda MX-5 exceeded 940,000 units and it continues to hold the Guinness World Record for the best-selling two-seater sports car. Mazda has finally taken the wraps off the forth generation Miata at events held simultaneously in Japan, USA and Spain attended by global fans of the legendary car.

The design of the all-new MX-5 follows Mazda's KODO design language that has been used in other models recently. The Miata follows the simple yet successful formula that it has been adapting since years with the new version. Front engine, rear wheel drive and two seats encapsulated in a beautiful long nose and stubby tail body with a simple soft top foldable roof. The new car features slim and pointed headlights combined with a large air intake grille that forms a face like structure that the Miata has always been known for. At the rear, the design language continues with a set of round LED tail lamps and a dual exhaust tip setup.

Mazda Miata interior

Mazda had originally unveiled the first generation Mazda Miata at the 1989 Chicago Auto Show. At the time, no one else made a lightweight convertible sportscar that was also extremely affordable. The Miata also brought to the table legendary Japanese reliability, something that the original lightweight British sports cars of the 40s, 50s and 60s were never known for. Although never sold in India, many were independently imported. The first generation in particular, remains a favorite of automotive enthusiasts and collectors in the country.
