Mercedes-Benz SL facelift revealed

The Mercedes-Benz SL is a legendary marquee from the German automobile manufacturer. With the first ever SL, the 300SL capturing imaginations and the hearts of people globally and inspiring cars like the SLS AMG, the SL range has always been well received by most European and American markets. In India, the Mercedes-Benz SL was at a point of time the most expensive car you could buy too but sadly in the last few years, Mercedes-Benz India has taken the car off the market due to increasing prices and competition.

Mercedes-Benz has now taken the wraps off the new facelifted SL prior to its official debut at the upcoming Los Angeles Auto Show. The standard SL now gets a new diamond grille with AMG GT inspired LED headlamps. The new car also gets a different front bumper with large intakes and a new rear bumper with a large diffuser and new chrome exhaust pipes. The AMG V8 version will also get carbon accents on the bumpers and multispoke AMG alloy wheels. The AMG V12 version on the other hand gets silver accents on the bumper and a set of polished multispoke wheels.

On the interior front, there are large changes that include a bigger display on the centre console and a new analogue watch. The new SL also gets a carbonfibre accents on the AMG models and a new controller the driving modes. It allows the driver to select from five different modes - Individual, Comfort, Sport, Sport+ and Race.

In terms of engines, the new Mercedes-Benz SL will get more powerful engines and the new 9-speed 9G-TRONIC dual clutch gearbox. The car will also feature Active body control in international market. Although it is unlikely that Mercedes-Benz India will get the new SL to India anytime soon, it would certainly help them to appeal to the mature audience who is looking for a convertible sportscar with a historic badge.
