After successfully launching the Actros and Antos Mercedes-Benz Trucks added the Arocs as the third heavy-duty special vehicle. The Arocs range is available in an array of different model types like dump trucks, all-wheel drive dump trucks, cement mixers, semitrailer tractors and dropsider chassis vehicles are available as two, three and four-axle vehicle. The heavy-duty truck already meets the strict Euro VI emission norms which will come into effect across the continent starting late 2013. The Arocs will be the first four-axle commercial vehicle to employ Servotwin electro-hydraulic power steering.
The new truck will have 16 different engine options with the smallest engine producing 238PS and the top of the line producing 625PS. Automatic transmission is standard across the range but clients have an option of opting for a manual transmission. To meet the high requirements of the construction industry the Arcos has a special range of dump semitrailer vehicles and cement mixers, loaders and grounders which have a load carrying capacity ranging from 18 to 41 tonnes.
The frames, frame heights and overhangs have been designed specially so that matching conversion parts for use as construction material transporters are no longer required. Mercedes has extended its range of customisation from cars to its trucks with a choice of seven driver cabs configurations and a total of of 14 variants.
