Mercedes-Benz has released a design sketch of the GLC Coupe, a new crossover SUV coupe that is set to go up against the likes of the BMW X4. The new GLC Coupe will be based on the GLC which is the replacement for the GLK that was sold exclusively in left hand drive markets until recently. The new GLC coupe will battle the BMW X4 and will eventually make its way to India.
Just like the GLC, the GLC coupe will be based on the C-Class W205 platform and will inherit most of its hardware. Expect a range of engines ranging from the 200 petrol and the 220 diesel to the fire breathing 63 AMG spec GLC Coupe to be released soon and make its way to India eventually. There will also be a plug-in hybrid derivative for international markets just like the one on the soon to be launched C350e.
Although not much is known about the GLC-coupe yet, from its design language, we can see that it features a sharp and attractive front end with typically Mercedes-Benz design language and a large grille with a centrally mounted ‘three pointed star’. The front bumper will also feature a satin silver finished scuff plate with large and sporty air intakes. The car will also feature large 18-20-inch wheels to appeal to a younger and sportier audience. The GLC-Coupe will add to the line of Mercedes-Benz SUVs that include the GLA, the soon to be launched GLC, the GLE, the GLE Coupe, the GLS and of course, the G-Class. Expect Mercedes-Benz India to launch their complete range of SUVs in India in the near future.
