Mahindra Two Wheelers announced that its upcoming scooter that was codenamed G101 during the development phase has been christened -Gusto. The scooter follows Mahindra’s tradition of naming their product ending with the word “o”. The Mahindra Gusto is an all-new scooter and is powered by a 110cc motor. Mahindra calls the new powerplant M-TEC and it uses an all-aluminium construction. The air-cooled, single-cylinder motor generates 8PS of maximum power and peak torque of 8.5Nm. The Mahindra Gusto has been developed from the ground up at its R&D facility in Pune.
ZigWheels has ridden the Gusto but due to embargo restrictions we cannot divulge further details about the scooter except for the fact that it will be loaded with some unique features that will set it apart from its rivals in our scooter space. The Mahindra Gusto is a global scooter and apart from the Indian market it will be sold in Nepal, South Asia, Central America and Africa. The Mahindra Gusto will be launched in the Northern and Western markets of India and Nepal, on September 29th. Watch this space for more details on the new scooter.
Talking about the Gusto, Rajesh Jejurikar, Chief Executive – Farm Equipment & Two Wheeler Division & Member of the Group Executive Board said, “We are set to introduce our new global scooter, the GUSTO, created at our state-of-the-art R&D facility in Pune. The name GUSTO is a derivative of 'gust’ which connotes a sudden strong current of wind, symbolizing the spirit of freedom. GUSTO comes with an all Aluminium M-TEC engine with advanced features such as a stronger crankshaft and bearings, high inertia magneto, high energy HT coil and series regulator to deliver superior power, efficiency and reliability. After rigorous testing and validation we are now ready to launch the GUSTO in the Northern and Western markets of India and Nepal, on September 29. ”
