Although considerably behind the top German marques in India, JLR is catching up with increasing models and local assembly operations

Range Rover Sport

Jaguar Land Rover India has reported a growth of 22 percent in India last year, clocking 2913 units cumulatively. The boost in sales can be credited to local assembly of the XF and new model launches in the past year.

JLR India Vice-President Rohit Suri said a rising number of discerning class of individuals in the entrepreneurial, executive and professional segments helped in the growth.

"A strong dealer network focused on providing one of the best after sales service and high re-sale value commanded by Jaguar and Land Rover cars is making customers comeback for repeat purchases already," he added. JLR has 19 dealerships spread across 17 cities in India. Since most of the models except for the XF and the Freelander 2 are sold as CBUs, the brand is yet to taste the kind of success the big three German luxury car makers, Audi, BMW and Mercedes have tasted here.

Jaguar XF

In 2013, Jaguar launched the locally produced XF with 2.2 litre diesel engine followed by a 2.0 litre petrol engine variant and sports car F-Type. Land Rover launched the Range Rover Sport in the last quarter of 2013.

Jaguar sells two sedans - the XJ and XF and two sportscars - the XK and F-Type in India and the Land Rover range includes the Range Rover Sport, Range Rover, Range Rover Evoque, Discovery 4 and Freelander 2.
