The Hyundai Creta since its launch has been one of the hottest selling cars of 2015. The compact SUV has seen staggering sales and prebookings with waiting period for some top of the line variants extending to as high as 6 months with certain dealerships. As we reported earlier, the Creta till recently was attracting a premium of between Rs 1-2 lakh depending on the model. However, after speaking to dealers recently, the situation seems to be improving.
As ZigWheels.com has reported months ago, Hyundai was working at breakneck speeds to increase production capacity for the Creta to meet the unprecedented demand. The new production line has been amped up to make about 10000 units every month to meet demand. Strangely, the demand has not reduced even after the Creta went through a price increase of about Rs 20000 in recent weeks.
Dealers say the waiting period has dropped from 4-6 months to between 1.5-2 months depending on the variant and drive train option. The Hyundai Creta is available with both petrol and diesel variants with both, an automatic and a manual version. The Hyundai Creta goes up against the likes of the Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano, Mahindra Scorpio and the Tata Safari amongst others.
