Honda NSX concept unveiled at Detroit Motor Show

The Honda NSX will make a comeback and it's going to be the car around which all future Honda performance cars are going to be built

The new Honda NSX will be developed by Honda R&D Americas over the next three years, once the car is ready it will be manufactured in its plant in Ohio. The new NSX is more than just a new performance car. Honda will develop all its next generation performance vehicles around the principles used to make the new NSX which will include building the car out of lightweight materials to increase efficiency and better performance. 

A next generation VTEC V6 engine with direct injection will be mounted in the middle of the car while the new Sport Hybrid SH-AWD® (Super Handling All Wheel Drive™) hybrid system will use a unique Electric Motor Drive Unit with a bilateral torque adjustable control system to instantly generate negative or positive torque to the front wheels during cornering. The car will also get a new dual clutch transmission with a built-in electric motor, to create supercar acceleration while offering outstanding efficiency.

Honda Acura ILX

Speaking at the Detroit Motor Show, Takanobu Ito, President and CEO of Honda Motor Co. Ltd, who led the development of Honda’s first NSX supercar, explained the values of the new NSX, “Like the first NSX, we will again express high performance through engineering efficiency. In this new era, even as we focus on the fun to drive spirit of the NSX, I think a supercar must respond positively to environmental responsibilities.” 

Honda Accord Coupe

Alongside the NSX supercar concept Honda also showcased the Acura ILX luxury compact sedan. The Japanese car giant also unveiled a prototype of the 2013 RDX crossover sports utility vehicle and an the Accord Coupe Concept, which sports styling cues from the ninth-generation Honda Accord set to go on sale in the US from autumn 2012.
