Honda is likely to launch the updated version of its sports tourer, the CBR 650F in India soon. According to sources, bookings for the bike will begin next month and it will be launched by mid-2017.

Displayed at the 2016 EICMA motorcycle show, the new bike uses the same 649cc liquid-cooled, inline 4-cylinder engine that is now tuned to belt out 4PS more. The engine’s power and torque output now stands at 90PS and 64Nm (up by 1.1Nm). Honda claims that the extra power is apparent post 5000rpm, and thanks to the shorter gearing, the acceleration of the bike has improved as well. The intake and exhaust system have also been tinkered with so as to reduce the back-pressure. This results in improved exhaust flow. The new bike will be BS-IV compliant, and with a claimed mileage of 20kmpl, it promises to be a potent tourer.

Speaking about the suspension, the updated CBR 650F will get 41mm Showa Dual Bending Valve (SDBV) forks at the front and preload-adjustable monoshock at the rear. This set-up is expected to improve ride quality and handling. The bike also features uprated Nissin two-piston calipers at the front with dual channel ABS as standard. Apart from these, the headlamp and the tail-light also get the full-LED treatment. Expect the new bike to command a premium of Rs 25-30,000 over the Rs 6.57 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) price that Honda charges for the current version.
