Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI) has announced that bookings for the CBR 650F have started. The booking amount for the Honda CBR650F has been set at Rs 50,000 by the Japanese two-wheeler giant. The Honda CBR 650F will be sold only its exclusive sales-service shop-in-shop network of elite ‘Wing World’ dealerships across 13 cities. The cities where the upcoming performance bike will be sold include New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Indore, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, Pune, Kochi, Lucknow and Bhubaneswar. Honda has also hinted that it might unveil or launch few other products at the Revfest event that will be held simultaneously in eight cities.

The Honda CBR650F belongs to the sport-tourer genre of motorcycles. But the styling of the bike is akin to that of the litre-class CBR and this should appeal to the Indian masses that have a fairing fixation. But unlike supersport motorcycles that have an aggressive riding posture, the Honda CBR650F will have a more upright and comfortable riding position. The Honda CBR650F houses a 649cc, liquid-cooled, in-line-four motor pumping out 87PS at 11,000rpm and 63Nm at 8,000rpm.

This means that the Honda offering has an advantage of 15PS over its arch rival, the Kawasaki Ninja 650 and in terms of torque rating it’s just one Nm down. The extra ponies and the chiselled body should result in the Honda CBR650F having a better performance than the Ninja 650 as the weight of both the bikes are almost same. The motor is mated to a six-speed transmission. Honda first showcased the bike at the 2014 Auto Expo and since then it has created a lot of buzz among the enthusiasts junta. When launched, it will be the largest displacement bike to be assembled by the Japanese giant in India. The CBR650F will be assembled in India but only 5 per cent of its parts will be localised. Despite coming in as CKD, the CBR650F will be priced around the Rs 8 lakh mark owing to the limited localisation.
