The Goodwood Festival of Speed, a hill climb sport which takes place annually at the grounds of Goodwood Estate, West Sussex, England, had some great sports car reveals to boast of. The event was successfully concluded on Sunday, with this year’s theme being "the endless pursuit of power". During the festival, participants drove some of the exotic cars up the Goodwood hill, including the ones that are revealed. The event gives motoring enthusiasts a more holistic experience in which they can be very close to the cars that attempted to climb the hill and also feel connected to their favourite rides. However, since the last few years, the festival has prompted many manufacturers to showcase their exciting new and upcoming cars here. And this year is no different. Here’s a list of four cars that seemed to embody the year’s theme.

McLaren 570S Sprint

The renowned supercar manufacturer showcased the 570S Sprint at the event. The car looks absolutely stunning with its wild body work. The car is pegged as the most powerful Mclaren in the manufacturer’s Sports Series line-up. Other than the aggressive front and rear diffuser, the Sprint has a lot of trickery to help it cope with the added power. It features high-temperature radiators, single-nut cast magnesium wheels, optional air suspension, and Pirelli racing slick tyres. The insides encapsulate racing bucket seats with six-point harness, an FIA-certified roll cage, and a fire extinguishing system.

Aston Martin Vantage GT12 Roadster

The Gaydon (UK)-based manufacturer took the wraps off the super exclusive Vantage GT12 Roadster at the festival. It’s so exclusive that the showcased car is and will be the only unit to ever be manufactured. However, there are reports that the car has attracted a lot of attention at the festival and that this it could motivate Aston to make more number of such car. The car wears an extensive number of carbon-fibre trims on the exterior and inside as well. However, the vehicle is expected to be heavier than the coupe version because of the extra strengthening that inherently follows a roadster body style. The car is done in deep grey and sports the same sleek, wide stance of the Vantage. Under the sculpted bonnet is a 5.9-litre 600PS V12, sending power to the rear wheels.

The P1 LM is basically an extreme road-legal version of the P1 GTR, and changes have been made to the GTR to make it a bit civilised and therefore eligible for road use. The car has been prepared by the folks at Lanzante Limited, which specialises in auto sports and classic car restoration. They have taken five GTRs and converted them into these road-ready beauties, but make no mistake as all the five P1 LMs retain the same – might we say bonkers  – 1000PS of power from the P1 GTR, with an additional boost from the hybrid powertrain. Well, how is this civilised? The LM now keeps its monumental heat production in check by using a gold-plated heat shield in the engine bay and a tweaked charge cooler for efficient work at high temperatures.

Mercedes-Benz AMG GT-R

Definitely the most remarkable reveal at the Goodwood was the AMG GT R, known as the ‘Beast of the Green Hell’, since it was perfected at the legendary Nurburgring circuit. The GT R easily qualifies as a perfect poster car, thanks to the ferocious exterior changes that it carries over the AMG GT S. The 585PS monster is both lighter and more aerodynamic than the GT S. The front carries a vertically slatted grille layout, and a wider and gap-ier lower air dam. The sides receive a new, darker set of wheels with chrome outer ring, while the rear exhibits bigger cooling bumper scoops, a bigger wing spoiler and aggressive diffuser. Under the hood, the significant bump in power is attained by using bigger turbochargers on the same 4.0-litre dry-sump motor. Moreover, the car has been sharpened in terms of throttle response, steering response and suspension. Do take a look at the promo video, featuring Lewis Hamilton taming ‘the Beast’ at ‘the Ring’!
