Following last week's online reveal, the facelifted and turbocharged Porsche 911 Carrera S has made its debut in the flesh at 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show.

The facelifted Porsche 911 although unveiled online recently has made its official debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Auto Show. The new car is very mildly facelifted like most Porsche mid-generation facelifts but of course, the big news is the fact that all Porsches now will be turbocharged including the base model Carrera and Carrera S versions.

You have to pretty much be a Porsche expert to notice the styling changes on the new 991.2 Carrera S as the revisions to the headlights, wheels, door handles and bumpers are very subtle.  The most noticeable change is the new engine cover featuring vertical louvers to aid the turbocharged engine with cooling. On the interior front, the car gets a new and revised PCM 7-inch system and a slight tweak on the centre console.

As we mentioned earlier, the most important changes have occurred underneath the skin as the Carrera S is no longer naturally aspirated since Porsche has decided to ditch the old engine and replace it with a new twin-turbo six-cylinder 3.0-litre which develops 420PS of peak power and 500Nm of peak torque. The new engine is 20PS and 60Nm more powerful than its predecessor. The base model or entry level Porsche 911 Carrera uses the same engine but with 370PS of peak power and 450Nm of peak torque which incidentally is also a 20PS & 60Nm improvement over the last generation engine.

In terms of performance figures, Porsche claims that the PDK or automatic gearbox equipped 911 Carrera S with the Sport Chrono Package does the 0-100kmph sprint in 3.9 seconds and tops out at a very impressive 191mph. One has to wonder though that if the Carrera S is this quick, the range topping Turbo and Turbo S versions would be quite impressive and go straight up in terms of performance vs the likes of supercars like the Lamborghini Huracan and the Ferrari 488GTB. Expect the new 911 to make its way to India very soon.
