Tyre giant Apollo has introduced its new steer axle tyres for commercial vehicles called ‘XMR’ which uses the new cross ply technology called the Uniform Bias Technology for better mileage and durability. The new tyres are particularly designed to achieve superior mileage and structural durability which play a key role in the usage of commercial vehicles on Indian roads.
In an HCV, the steering position is very important and the tyre used on its steer axle position needs to be designed with the highest precision and the most sophisticated techniques. Hence, Apollo has used the latest technology and materials, employing advanced design, simulation and testing tools for the XMR tyres. The flatter tread arc radius allow better mileage despite degradation, the optimising casing insulation ensures better retreadability, and the improved stiffness leads to better steering and reduced deflection.
Commenting on the new XMR tyre, Satish Sharma, Chief, India Operations, Apollo Tyres, said, “To continue our leadership and create a benchmark in the cross ply category, especially when radialisation is happening in the heavy commercial vehicle (HCV) segment, it is important for us to have such differentiating products for the steer axle as well.”
Apollo is the market leader in commercial vehicle tyres in the tyre industry, in which 65 per cent of the tyre revenue is that of commercial vehicle tyres. The introduction of sophistically designed tyres for commercial vehicles overcomes the challenges faced with heavy loads at higher speeds.
