Not so long ago, Honda released a teaser video of the new Jazz that is slated to be launched in July. Now the Japanese giant has released another video unveiling the car, and has simultaneously launched an official website.
On the outside, the Jazz has a silhouette similar to its predecessor but it does seem to share quite a bit with the larger Honda City including the chassis. As far as the design is concerned, the new Jazz now looks a lot more cutting-edge and purposeful with sharp line flowing from the front to the back. The hood and the roofline also have creases to give the hatchback a touch of aggression. The large grille that blends into the headlight makes it look like the European-spec Civic.
On the inside, the Jazz once again borrows its dashboard from the City. It has the same large centre console with the touch screen air-con controls. If you thought that the older Jazz was spacious, in this new generation it is expected to be even more spacious. The all new Jazz will come with a longer list of features as well.
Under the hood, the Jazz will come with petrol as well as diesel engine options. It will get a 1.2-litre petrol unit that makes 90PS and 109Nm. Considering that the Amaze sports the same unit, efficiency should be similar to the ARAI claimed figure of 18kmpl as well. The diesel version of the Jazz will come with a 1.5-litre i-DTEC unit that will make 100PS and 200Nm. Over the years, this engine has proven to be pretty efficient and one can expect it to return an efficiency of 25kmpl.
When it is launched next month, the Honda Jazz will go against the likes of the Hyundai Elite i20, the Volkswagen Polo and the upcoming Maruti Suzuki YRA hatchback. The all-new Honda Jazz is expected to be priced around Rs 6-8.5 lakh.
