Aditya Patel to race Audi R8 LMS

Indian lad Aditya Patel recently completed testing of the Audi R8 LMS Ultra as part of his participation in the 6 hour ADAC Ruhr-Pokal-Rennen, the 7th VLN endurance race which will be held on August 4th 2012. Patel will pair with three-time Le Mans winner Marco Werner for the 6 Hour race.

Earlier in the month of May, a brilliant performance from the Chennai lad led him to a historic win at the 40th edition of the 24 Hours ADAC Nurburgring driving for the Pro-Handicap e.V. team. Patel not only created history by becoming the first Indian to participate in the race but he also became the first Indian to win it; further it was also the German brand’s first ever victory at the 24 Hours of Nurburgring.

Several technical and structural modifications have been made to the Audi R8 LMS Ultra as opposed to its predecessor and is now nearly 40kg lighter with more than 500Nm of torque, improved aerodynamics, wider front wheels and superior brake cooling.

“All I see before my eyes now is the starting line at the Nürburgring. That is my level of excitement. The testing was successful, the car is a superb piece of technology and combined with the expert partnership of the legendary Marco Werner, I am very confident about our capabilities in finishing the race. The Audi R8 LMS Ultra is powerful, has fantastic balance, is extremely stable around the corners and drives like none other on the track,” the young lad exclaimed.

Patel is also an instructor with the Audi Sportscar experience in India and will be present at the next session at the Buddh International Circuit, Greater Noida on the 24th, 25th and 26th of August 2012.
