Indian Oil Corp (IOC) has announced a cut in the prices of petrol and diesel effective from April 16, 2015. Price for the petrol has been slashed by 80 paise per litre while that for the diesel has been cut by Rs 1.30 per litre. This is the second price cut in this month.
Prices of petrol and diesel were last reduced with effect from April 2, 2015 by Rs 0.49 per litre and Rs 1.21 per litre respectively.
Petrol in Delhi will now be available at Rs 59.20 per litre w.e.f. April 16, 2015 as opposed to the Rs 60 per litre earlier, while diesel will cost Rs 47.20 per litre as against Rs 48.50, according to IOC.
The second reduction in rates this month reverses two rounds of price hikes in February and March — first by Rs 0.82 per litre in petrol and Rs 0.61 per litre in diesel on February 16, and by Rs 3.18 per litre in petrol and Rs 3.09 a litre in diesel on March 1, 2015.
In the recent past petrol prices had witnessed a steady decline. Since August 2014, petrol prices have been slashed close to ten times and diesel saw a reduction in price six times since October 2014.
