Kawasaki has updated the 2016 edition of the Z1000SX. The sports tourer offering from Kawasaki gets the benefits of slipper clutch and ABS. Apart from the addition of features, the 2016 Kawasaki Z1000SX will also sport new colour options that includes the Candy Lime Green given a more aggressive treatment, Candy Plasma Blue and Metallic Carbon Gray. According to the Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer, the race-inspired slipper clutch on the 2016 Kawasaki Z1000SX provides 30 per cent lighter effort on the lever.

Explaining the function of the slipper clutch further, Kawasaki said in its release, “Under normal riding conditions, the clutch functions as a self-locking mechanism, pulling the clutch hub and operating plate together to compress the clutch plates. This allows the total clutch spring load to be reduced, thereby resulting a lighter clutch lever pull when operating the clutch. While the back torque limiting or ‘Slipper’ function works in the traditional way; where the clutch partially disengages or “slips” when the rear wheel tries to drive the engine faster than it would run under its own power.”

In the Indian context, we currently only have the Kawasaki Z1000 on sale (Review link) but given the fact that many consumers are showing an affinity towards sports tourer and adventure tourer genre of motorcycles there is possibility that the Kawasaki Z1000SX may land on our shores in 2016. The Kawasaki Versys 1000 also got updated with a new colour option of metallic raw titanium. The Kawasaki Z1000SX retails for Rs 10 lakh in the UK market.
