Honda Cars Philippines has unveiled the Mugen powered prototype of the all-new Honda City. The prototype is a showcase of how the production version with the upgraded performance tweaks which is set to be released later this year will look. The new car features a long list of visual tweaks that give the Honda City a much sportier look as compared to the standard car. Apart from the City, Mugen also provides performance solutions for the likes of the Civic, CRV and the Accord, none of which are officially available in India.
The Mugen Honda City features a sportier front fascia, which includes a new front splitter for the bumper and a new sport grille finished in gloss black. The Hugen Honda City also features a pair of more pronounced side skirts, a rear diffuser and a subtle lip spoiler to add to the unique tuned look. The 2014 Mugen Honda City also gets a set of special 17-inch aluminum wheels that help fill the more pronounced wheel arches.
Although Mugen has officially been present in India in the past through a few select dealers providing aftermarket solutions for the Honda Civic, the tuning giant has never really seen any success in India. This might be due to the fact that most of the parts offered by Mugen were only cosmetic with very little or no performance parts available. With the launch of the new Mugen Honda City, we might see a return of the famous tuning firm to India. Mugen has announced that the official Mugen Honda City will have a more powerful engine, a sportier exhaust and bespoke sports suspension that will make the City handle better. The performance package will also include a set of bigger and better brakes. Mugen will also offer a much sportier interior package for the Honda City in the future.
