Powered by 5.5-litre bi-turbo direct injection V8, the ML63 AMG will be as fast as a sports car!

Mercedes Benz ML 63 AMG front

Backed by AMG super performance, the new ML 63 AMG will soon be available on UK roads at a price tag £82,995 (Rs 68.2 lakh) on road. Powered by a 5.5-litre, bi-turbo direct injection V8 petrol engine, the mini-SUV from the three pointed star churns out 532PS of power and 760Nm of torque. An added option of £6,165 (Rs 5 lakh) will boost power up by another 32PS and torque by 60Nm. On the standard specification, the 100km/h mark comes in 4.8 seconds which puts it at par with many high-performance sports cars. Despite the size of the engine, fuel efficiency has improved 40 percent while decreasing CO2 emissions by 30 percent. The AMG Speedshift Plus 7-G Tronic seven-speed automatic transmission that features a controlled efficiency driving mode and Eco Start/Stop function, contribute towards an overall fuel efficiency of 23.9 miles per gallon (8.4kmpl).

Modifications to the chassis with the AMG sports suspension, high-performance brakes with perforated discs, direct steer, 20-inch five-spoke alloy wheels and AirMATIC self leveling air suspension ensure a grounded feel on straights and corners, without any compromise on comfort. Bodywork includes exclusive front and rear aprons and side skirts, specific LED daytime running lamps and sports exhaust system with two sets of twin tailpipes to deliver the right exhaust note. The inside is adorned by leather upholstered sports seats, four-spoke steering wheel trimmed in Nappa leather, refreshed instruments, Comand online system with media interface and a DAB digital radio.

The optional AMG package is being offered on the ML for the first time and, in addition to the power and torque upgrade, includes the AMG performance steering wheel with Dianmica inserts in the grip areas, an AMG carbon fibre engine cover, red-painted brake calipers and a driver’s package that raises the limited top speed from 250km/h to 280km/h at a total added fee of £3,240 (Rs 2.66 lakh).

The current version of the M-Class has been doing rather well in the country and with the added option of the AMG package on the new model, it is likely to be a hit among enthusiasts when it arrives.
