Mercedes has given the fifth-generation E-Class its ultimate and final update with the new AMG E 63 S 4Matic+ Final Edition. It has a 612PS V8 petrol engine and an all-wheel-drive system which has a “Drift Mode”. But you’d probably want to get your hands on the Final Edition quickly since only 999 examples of the sports sedan will be produced.

You’ll only be able to get the Final Edition E-Class in the matte-grey paint shade you see in the pictures. It stands out from the regular top-spec AMG E 63 S with its “Final Edition” badges and an AMG emblem on its C-pillar.

It has 20-inch AMG forged alloy wheels in gloss black, and the AMG Night Package with a black front splitter, side sills and rear apron. Optional Carbon Packages will be available which add carbon fibre trim bits to the exterior.

Inside, the E 63 S Final Edition gets you AMG Performance seats finished in dark grey nappa leather. The dashboard is trimmed with carbon fibre panels and black nappa leather, and it has red ambient lighting similar to other AMG models. You also get an “AMG Final Edition” badge on the centre console with a “1 of 999” inscription.

The final Mercedes-AMG E-Class is powered by a 612PS 4-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine. It’s similarly specced as the regular AMG E 63 S sedan which gets from 0-100kmph in just 3.4 seconds!

After the Final Edition, Mercedes will likely introduce the next-generation E-Class. Camouflaged test mules of the upcoming sedan have been spied earlier, so the new E-Class could be just around the corner. It’s likely to be offered with rear-wheel steering, a standard mild hybrid system and active safety and driver assistance features.
