Delphi has come up with seats that can function as air conditioning units and cool the cabin faster and more effectively. Read on to know more

The seat integrated HVAC system was developed by Delphi for medium sized industrial vehicles, equipment cabins or small rooms. The new seat-based automotive heating, ventilation and air conditioning system is easy to install with minimum assembly and manages to be an efficient system.

“Combining Delphi’s new HVAC system with the COBO seat provides equipment manufacturers the opportunity to keep operators comfortable while simplifying the overall cabin design and installation process,” said Roberto Grotti, Managing Director, Delphi Diavia.

For their new product Delphi has taken its Diavia HVAC system and combined it with the COBO group’s innovative seat, called the E3 HVAC Seat. The E3 HVAC seat has a cooling capacity of 6.2 kW and a heating capacity of 5.8 kW. It can serve as a climate control unit for the cab without there having to be air vents in the back of the cabin by channelling air flow through the vents in the seat. The system allows passengers to maintain their individual cabin temperature.

Cool air is delivered through an evaporator with an expansion valve which uses cooling gas from the A/C compressor. Warm air is circulated by a heater containing the fluid being circulated around the engine. Air is circulated from the vents by an electric fan powered by an electronic voltage regulator.

The whole system is integrated within the seat (inside the seat arm to be precise) and as a result the installation design is a simple plug and play setup.
