We have ridden the Matter Aera for the first time. Check out our thoughts on the bike below:

The bike’s sharp and sporty design manages to make it stand out — striking, but the headlight design is polarising

Front storage compartment is quite practical as it can fit a smartphone and the key fob on top of the portable charger

Gem of a motor — Feels punchy and provides smooth acceleration — The 3 riding modes: Eco, City and Sport, work perfectly to provide 3 distinct power outputs

Eco mode: Perfect for hypermiling — City: Can hold cruising speeds of 50-60kmph, perfect for commuting — Sport: Lively acceleration from the get go till 80kmph

Decent handler despite the 169kg kerb weight — Suspension feels quite sophisticated over bad patches of road

Responsive 7-inch TFT screen comes with turn-by-turn navigation in a neat layout that feels natural to use

Fit & finish quality levels could’ve been better — Distinct welding spots, exposed wires, panel gaps & flimsy charger cover not befitting a bike with Rs 2 lakh price tag

4-speed gearbox feels unnecessary — Each gear enables the bike to reach a higher top speed

Without any engine noise though, it’s impossible to guess the each gear’s top speed

Verdict: Superb motor & handling characteristics — 7-inch TFT a definite boon — Clunky gearbox is a small downer though

The Aera is a fast and fun motorcycle to consider if you’re looking to jump on the EV bandwagon with a motorcycle
