The Hyundai Verna has been around for a while, but has not garnered the sort of sales response for Hyundai as its i10-i20 hatch-backs have in India. Launched in Russia earlier in 2010, the hot new version of the Korean compact sedan is set to take on the premium compact sedan segment and from teh looks of it, Hyundai is leaving no stone unturned in their approach to the market, which, with time has become more aggressive and has witnessed the advent of players such as Volkswagen with the Vento and MSIL gearing up their portfolio with the diesel SX4.
For India, Hyundai is looking at offering the car with a slew of engine options which inlcude a 1.4 petrol, 1.4 diesel, 1.6 petrol and a 1.6 diesel. The 1.6 litre engine options are also offered with automatic gearbox options as well. No dbout, this dual pronged approach will allow Hyundai to take on players such as the Etios in the lower three box segment, while the 1.6 litred versions will compete against the Vento and Honda City in the premium compact sedan segment.
In terms of design and fitment, Hyundai has proved that their i generation vehicles are quality machines and built to last. The same build ethic can be seen on the new Verna as well. The car boasts of a fluidic design theme that is rather aggressive and there is no doubting the car's inherent good looks. The interiors are also well proportioned and suitable for a car in this class.
With the launch of the all new Hyundai Verna just around the corner, it sure will be a sight to see how the segment reacts when this gamechanger of a car arrives.
