Datsun will launch the Go in mid-March at a stating price of around Rs 3 lakh according to our dealer sources. This aggressive pricing is bound to give sleepless nights to its competitors since there isn’t a single car in India that offers the space, performance and efficiency package that comes with a Go even at a slightly higher price-point.
Moreover, our source tells us that three variants of the Go will be available – these include the above mentioned base variant at Rs 3 lakh, a mid-variant at around Rs 3.5 lakh and a top-end model for Rs 3.8 lakh, all prices ex-showroom Delhi. To begin with Datsun is shipping out only the top-of-the-line trims to showrooms.
We hear that the first batch of cars should reach Nissan dealerships by this weekend. The booking amount is set at Rs 11,000 and will be refunded if you aren’t satisfied with the launch price. Deliveries of the Go hatchback will begin by the end of March.
The Go as an entry-level car is a very good package as we found out in our Datsun Go review. The pricing promises to give you the best bang for your buck in the hatchback segment. Albeit under the Nissan umbrella, Datsun is a new brand so we will have to see how the Indian car buyer takes to it though.
