Skoda launches 1.6 variant of the Fabia

Attempting to make space for itself in the tightly packed hatchback market in India, SkodaAuto India has launched a refreshed version of its Fabia hatchback. While there have been changes in the exterior and interior design, the headline grabber has to be the introduction of the 1.6-litre petrol engine option, which makes the Fabia one of the most powerful cars in its class

"The new Skoda caters to larger group of people who want a premium hatchback, with the best of technology, safety and practicality in their car, yet accessible price range with an improved value for money proposition," said Mr. Thomas Kuehl, Board Member & Director, Sales & Marketing, SkodaAuto India while announcing the launch of the new Fabia on October 12.

Apart from the 1.6 MPI option which will be available in the Elegance trim, Skoda will continue to sell the Fabia with the 1.2-litre diesel and petrol engines in its three usual trims, the Classic, Ambiente and Elegance. One of the key features of the Fabia remains its safety, with dual front airgbags as standard across all variants.

The three variants of the refreshed Fabia are available in an array of colors, Cappuccino Beige, Brilliant Silver, Candy White, Deep Black and Flash Red.
