Tata Motors has launched the new and updated Nano GenX with its new AMT automatic manual transmission which has christened ‘Easy Shift’ at a price of Rs 1.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The new Nano GenX features a host of upgrades apart from the gearbox both on the exterior and interior front.

The New Nano GenX also finally receives an operable tailgate that can be used to put a few bags of groceries or a basic overnight bag. Other appearance changes include an all new front look with its new smiley face grilles integrated into the bumper and a set of smoked headlamps to give it a more sporty look. The new Tata Nano GenX will also be available in a range of new colors including a bright new shade of red which in our opinion will be a popular color for this new car.
The new Tata Nano GenX also gets a new position for its exhaust pipe which has now been moved from the centre of the car to the left of the rear bumper. The new car also gets a more rigid C-pillar for better overall handling and body integrity. On the interior front, the GenX Nano now gets a new steering wheel, chrome outlines for the AC vents and new instrumentation. The top-end Nano also gets front power windows, Bluetooth telephony and a rear parcel tray with integrated speakers.

With the Nano priced at Rs 1.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), it is still cheaper than the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Alto and the Datsun Go. However, we think that its biggest threat is the new Renault small hatchback that will soon be unveiled in India at a similar price range. All said and done, with all the added features, power steering and automatic gearbox, the Tata Nano makes even more sense now than it has ever done before.
Full variant prices:
XE: Rs 1.99 lakh
XM: Rs 2.29 lakh
XT: Rs 2.49 lakh
XMA (AMT): Rs 2.69 lakh
XTA (AMT): Rs 2.89 lakh
All prices ex-showroom Delhi
